Firstbridge courses are offered to degree seeking freshmen and registration is done via webform in pre-arrival checklist.
Anchored in the literary text, regional histories, wine production methods and the sensorial experience of tasting, this course immerses students in the French notion of “terroir” as an important element in the production of a distinctive French cultural identity. Students will learn about the history and production of wine in three major winemaking regions (Bordeaux, Burgundy, and the Rhone valley), read French texts celebrating wine, and receive formal wine education to develop their sense of taste as they learn why taste has become synonymous with Frenchness.
