TOPICS: 3D MATERIALS & TECHNIQUES OF THE MASTERS in Spring 2022 (AR3091A)

This is a hybrid lecture/studio class that presents the materials and techniques used by artists, architects, and designers over the centuries for the making of 3-dimensional works. Knowing where artists’ materials come from and how they are used is essential for a deeper appreciation of what has been created and an aid for future creation. Thus, this course is recommended for both students of Art History and Fine Arts. Whenever possible, the class will work with the materials discussed. There will be in-class demonstrations, studio visits, and especially projects the students will execute themselves. Lectures and reading assignments will supplement studio work.
